Uzbek Agricultural Expert Shares Experience With Turkmen Entrepreneurs
Agricultural expert from Uzbekistan Durbek Khalikov conducted the seminar.

A workshop on increasing the yield of potatoes in climate conditions of Turkmenistan took place at Ashgabat’s Olimpiya hotel on Tuesday.

The USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Job Creation Project in Central Asia, in collaboration with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), organized the seminar.

Agricultural expert from Uzbekistan Durbek Khalikov gave master class on modern agrotechnical methods of cultivating potatoes in arid zones.

“Potato is one of the important food crops. In this aspect, the key task of agricultural producers is to increase its productivity,” said the expert. “The priorities of this work are varietal breeding and agricultural innovations.”

Durbek Khalikov is a co-author of the work on the introduction of six new varieties of Uzbek potatoes. According to the expert, Turkmen farmers have potential to increase the production of this crop and establish its export in the future.

Practical classes on the topic of the seminar will be held on February 12 -14 at fields in different regions of Turkmenistan.
