President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received on Thursday the Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov, the Russian city’s Administration said in a Thursday press release.
During the meeting, Alexander Beglov announced the readiness of Saint Petersburg-based enterprises to supply medicines and build roads in Turkmenistan.
The Governor said the St. Petersburg-based enterprises are ready to take part in the construction of the North-South international railway corridor and the complex of anti-mudflow structures in Ashgabat, provide support in the construction of ships for the Caspian basin, and share experience in the modernization of thermal power plants.
During the official visit, Beglov will also meet with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Hyakim (Mayor) of Ashgabat Yaztagan Gylyjov.
The delegation is expected to visit the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan as well.
“It is planned to sign a road map, joint action plan between the governments of Saint Petersburg and Turkmenistan for 2020-2025,” according to the report.
The delegation of St. Petersburg will also visit the Turkmen-Russian secondary school named after A.S. Pushkin.
The delegation of Saint Petersburg includes representatives of the city’s business circles interested in cooperation with Turkmenistan - heads of enterprises in the road and shipbuilding industries, energy, electricity and water supply, IT industry, and pharmaceuticals.
