The successive session of the National Leading and Coordinating Committee of the Partnership Framework for Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for the period of 2016-2020 was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Thursday.
The meeting gathered the representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of UN agencies and public organizations.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev and UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova made the opening speeches, underlining the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN on various fields.
The participants analyzed the progress of joint actions in 2019, particularly in the area of providing quality and inclusive social services, ecological sustainability, energy efficiency, employment, economic diversification and trade, the regulation and supremacy of law.
The participants were presented reports on the results of the work on each subject and made proposals on perfecting the actions in 2020.
Turkmenistan with the UN has signed the Partnership Framework for Development for the period of 2016-2020 in April 2016.
Special attention in new Framework between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021-2025 will be paid to involvement of youth in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and development of youth policy. Another feature of the program will be the strengthening of the joint activities of various UN agencies.
