Minister of Industry and Construction Operations of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation on Monday.
During the visit, Turkmen Minister held talks with the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The parties discussed the further development of bilateral relations in areas such as oil and gas, engineering, energy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
The officials also exchanged views on the topics of cooperation in the field of construction and the training of highly qualified specialists for the industry at the universities in Tatarstan.
At the end of the meeting, President Minnikhanov thanked the Turkmen minister for his interest in Tatarstan and invited him to take part in the 12th International Economic Summit with a theme “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Summit 2020”, which will be held in Kazan in June this year.
A cooperation agreement is in effect between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover with Tatarstan in the first nine months of 2019 amounted to $65 million. Turkmenistan actively cooperates with such Tatarstan-based enterprises as KAMAZ PJSC and Tatneft.
President of Turkmenistan signed a decree on the opening of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan in December last year.
The Ministry of Industry and Construction Operations of Turkmenistan was established on February 7, 2020.
