Turkmenistan, Morocco Keen to Boost Bilateral Relations
The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held political consultations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Morocco Nasser Burita.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and the State Minister - Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern Myrat Archayev paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on March 4-6.

On the first day of the visit, the Prime Minister of Morocco Saadeddine Othmani received the Turkmen delegation. During the talks, the sides emphasized the interest of both states in promoting bilateral relations, as well as the similarity of positions in maintaining peace, stability and security throughout the world.

The parties noted the commitment of the two countries and their people to historical values and traditions. The parties considered the possibility of developing Turkmen-Moroccan relations in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian fields.

On the same day, the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Morocco took place. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Burita headed the delegation of Morocco. In the beginning of the meeting, Turkmen Foreign Minister presented to his Moroccan counterpart the invitation from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the King of Morocco to participate in celebrations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, scheduled for December this year.

The parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations, as well as cooperation between Turkmenistan and Morocco within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN and OIC and noted the importance of developing a regulatory framework for cooperation.

The diplomats considered the possibilities of developing trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties. The sides also exchanged views on the possibilities of increasing bilateral trade, the organization of joint business forums, and the holding of cultural events, including the Days of Culture.

The officials signed a number of bilateral documents designed to further strengthen bilateral relations.

During the visit, the Turkmen delegation also met with the President of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Morocco Habib El Maliki, the President of the House of Councils of the Parliament Hakim Benchamach, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reforms of Morocco Mohammed Benchaaboun, as well as with the representatives of the private sector of the country.
