The Türkmendemirýollary, Türkmenawtoulaglary, Türkmenhowaýollary and Türkmendeňizderýaýollary agencies were transferred to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in February this year.
In January last year, changes were introduced in order to radically reform the transport sector of Turkmenistan and further improve the efficiency of its operations through integrated management of the sector.
The following transport authorities were renamed and given the status of agency:
• Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan - Türkmendemirýollary agency;
• Ministry of Road Transport of Turkmenistan - Türkmenawtoulaglary agency;
• State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan - Türkmendeňizderýaýollary Agency;
• Türkmenhowaýollary Service - Türkmenhowaýollary Agency.
Activities of agencies
Türkmendemirýollary agency, which offers passenger and cargo transportation services, annually serves approximately 6 million passengers. The passenger department employs 5 thousand specialists.
The railway agency provides different types of services related to the transportation of goods by rail and operates a number of representative offices in Turkmenistan.
The Agency offers the lowest railway tariffs for the transportation of export, import and transit goods through the territory of Turkmenistan and the CIS, Iran, Afghanistan, the Baltic, Europe and other Asian countries. The Agency calculates the cost of the tariff for the transportation of goods by rail and serves customers in a short time.
Türkmenawtoulaglary Agency offers freight and passenger transportation services on highways. The agency provides city and intercity buses, as well as rents them out. The Agency operates city taxi services as well.
The Agency also provides services for the transportation of packaged, retail, and hazardous goods of different sizes and weights. Payments for freight transportation services are calculated as hourly, ton and kilometer, based on the request of the customer.
Türkmendeňizderýaýollary Agency offers services for the transport of goods and passengers on ships. The agency offers tariffs for transport services and monitors the activities on international routes.
Türkmenhowaýollary Agency is a national provider of air transport services. Along with operating flights, the agency also provides aircraft maintenance services.
The airline daily transports more than 5 thousand passengers domestically and annually transports almost 3 million passengers on international and domestic routes. The airline operates modern Boeing 737, 757, 777 passenger aircrafts and Il-76 cargo aircraft.
