The Russian company will supply Mi-17-1W and Ansat ambulance helicopters to Turkmenistan.

Türkmenhowaýollary Agency will purchase two ambulance helicopters from Kazan Helicopter Plant Joint Stock Company, a Russian helicopter manufacturing company based at Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree on Friday authorizing the conclusion of the contract on purchase of the helicopters.

The document is signed in order to successfully implement the tasks set out in the "National Program for the Development of Civil Aviation of Turkmenistan for 2012-2030", as well as to continuously modernize the aircraft fleet and ensure flight safety.

According to the contract, the Russian company will supply Mi-17-1W and Ansat ambulance helicopters, as well as spare parts, consumables and necessary equipment for them.

The helicopter company will also train relevant specialists and deliver the  helicopters to Turkmenistan in accordance with the agreement.

Tatarstan's Kazan Helicopter Plant proposed Turkmenistan to modernize the country's helicopter park during the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Tatarstan in July 2018. The offer included Ansat helicopters used for medical emergency assistance in hard-to-reach regions.

One of the key steps towards cooperation with the Kazan Helicopter Plant was made during a working visit of the Turkmen leader to Tatarstan on June 23 last year.
