Turkmenistan continues to organize the return of its citizens by charter flights from countries where coronavirus has spread.
Türkmenhowaýollary Agency, the flagship airline of Turkmenistan, organized several charter flights to China, returning thousands of Turkmen citizens back to their homeland. Turkmenistan was one of the first countries to take such steps at the very beginning of the outbreak of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in China.
In addition to China, Turkmenistan also organized charter flights to return its citizens from Turkey, Russia, Belarus and other countries. Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, foreign diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, and the State Migration Service jointly work to organize the charter flights.
In addition, Turkmenistan has taken all the necessary measures to prevent the entry of the infection into the country. The country strengthened sanitary and epidemiological surveillance and medical control at all border and customs points, equipped them with thermal imagers, infrared and electronic thermometers, as well as carried out comprehensive preventive measures and awareness-raising events.
The charter flights also include virologists and other medical specialists to monitor the health of returnees on national airlines.
Students returning to Turkmenistan have the opportunity to remotely continue their studies at their universities.
