Working Group under the Constitutional Commission on the development and generalization of proposals on amendments to the Constitution of Turkmenistan held a meeting at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Working Group analyzed the proposals and comments received from the citizens of the country, political parties, groups of enterprises and institutions, as well as from public organizations and local authorities after the publication of the draft Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan”.
Due to the establishment of the bicameral legislative body of the country, the meeting participants also discussed the issues on amendments and additions to the current Constitutional Law “On the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan”, the Law “On the Mejlis of Turkmenistan”, the Electoral Code and other relevant laws.
The Working Group under the Constitutional Commission was created in the fall of last year. The Working Group consists of the deputies of the National Parliament, specialists from ministries and departments, law enforcement agencies, experts from the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the Academy of Sciences, universities, and representatives of public associations.
