President of Turkmenistan Signs Number of Resolutions on Environmental Projects
Number of projects aimed at fulfilling important tasks in the field of environmental protection with authoritative international organizations approved in Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed number of Resolutions aimed at fulfilling important tasks in the field of environmental protection and expanding cooperation with authoritative international organizations in this direction.

Turkmen Leader approved a Protocol on amendments to the Agreement on the Central Asian Desert Initiative (CADI) between the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection of Turkmenistan and Michael Zukkov Natural Preservation Fund (Germany).

The purpose and objectives of the project is to promote the conservation of biological diversity and the development of ecosystem functions of the deserts of Turkmenistan, preparation of a scientific and technical justification for the nomination of desert ecosystems as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, taking measures to improve management and expand the territory of one of the existing desert reserves, technical support and joint field research, and training of the reserves’ personnel.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Program (UNDP) will also sign a 2020 Action Plan on the project of provision of social and economic stability of the population engaged in agriculture in dry regions of Turkmenistan.

Under the project, it is planned to organize online consultations on various aspects of agricultural production with the participation of foreign specialists. The received experience will be proposed for further dissemination.

According to the Resolution of the Head of State, signing of the 2020 Action Plan related to Turkmenistan’s sustainable urban development and integrated development of green cities in Ashgabat and Avaza between the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection of Turkmenistan and the UNDP is aimed at active implementation of advanced practices in urban management.

The Turkmen President also signed Resolution authorizing the State Water Management Committee of Turkmenistan to sign 2020 Action Plan with the UNDP related to the effective use of energy and renewable energy for stable water management in Turkmenistan. The project is aimed at supporting steadfast implementation of joint projects.

The goal of the project is to promote integrated approach to the management of water resources, introduction of energy efficient and water saving technologies, and to improve standard of living of the population on sites.
