Turkmenistan, Afghanistan to Boost Rail Freight Transportation
Akina-Andkhoy railway line is part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway project.

A video conference meeting was held between the representatives of the Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways) Agency, Demirýollary (Railways) Open Joint-Stock Company and the Railway Authority of the Ministry of Transport of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Thursday.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the construction of the Aqina-Andkhoy railway line and the ongoing work under the project for the construction of the Turgundi-Herat railway.

The participants also exchanged views on increasing transit freight traffic and wagons passing through Afghanistan, and further developing the transport corridor between the Lapis Lazuli agreement participating countries.

The parties also considered the issues of obtaining visas for railway workers and other relevant issues.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Chairman of the “Türkmendemirýollary” Agency Azat Atamyradov and the Afghan side was led by the General Director of the Afghanistan Railway Authority Mohammad Yamma Shams.
