Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a video conference meeting with the regional leadership of the European Union-Central Asia Water, Environment and Climate Change Cooperation (WECOOP) project on Thursday.
Turkmenistan carries out several long-term projects on environmental protection with the EU, including the WECOOP project. The project aims to help formation of effective environment, climate change and water policies at national levels in Central Asia through approximation to EU standards.
During the video conference, the parties discussed joint projects and activities on sustainable water management, which are planned to be implemented with the assistance of the EU in the framework of the third phase of the WECOOP project.
The sides also exchanged views on the preparation of normative acts to the laws of Turkmenistan “On Waste”, “On Air Protection”, “On Environmental Expertise”, development of the forest cadaster of Turkmenistan using international best practices, and the organization of training seminars for employees of the country’s Hydrometeorology Service.
At the end of the online meeting, its participants spoke in favor of continuing regular consultations.
Specialists of the Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection and State Water Management Committee attended the meeting.
