The second meeting of the Turkmen-Astrakhan Joint Council on Business Issues took place in a video conference format on Wednesday.
The meeting participants noted with satisfaction the high level and growing dynamics of cooperation, developing successfully within the framework of the Turkmen-Russian interstate dialogue.
The parties discussed the logistical opportunities of Astrakhan water-transport hub and the organization of ferry service between the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the International Seaport of Olya.
The sides paid special attention to the possibilities of expanding trade cooperation, with particular interest in the supply of textile, chemical and foods products. The participants also exchanged views on the supply of agricultural products of Astrakhan to the markets of Turkmenistan and setting up the export of nonmetallic and textile materials of Turkmen production to Astrakhan.
“Turkmenistan is one of the main partners of the Astrakhan in the Caspian region. Our economies complement each other,” said Denis Afanasyev, co-chair of the Council, Minister of Industry and Natural Resources of Astrakhan oblast.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the process of expanding Turkmen-Russian collaboration in different spheres of mutual interest and considered the subject of establishing direct contacts between the representatives of Turkmen and Astrakhan businesses.
The meeting gathered representatives of ministries, departments and private sector of Turkmenistan and Russian Federation’s Astrakhan oblast.
Turkmen-Astrakhan Joint Council on Business Issues was established in 2019. The first meeting of the council took place on the sidelines of the First Caspian Economic Forum.
