President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday.
The parties discussed the current state of affairs and perspectives for strengthening the Turkmen-Uzbek relations based on the principles of friendship, good neighborhood and strategic partnership.
The Heads of the States exchanged views on cooperation in such key areas as trade, energy, transport and transit of goods, industry and agriculture.
The Turkmen Leader said the spread of coronavirus negatively affected the global economy and international relations. In this regard, the sides agreed to intensify efforts to counter the spread of this dangerous infection and to mitigate its neagtive impact on bilateral trade and economic relations.
The Turkmen President also expressed words of deep sympathy for the people of Uzbekistan in connection with the natural disaster that caused significant damage in a number of cities and settlements of the neighboring country and emphasized the willingness of Turkmenistan to provide the affected areas with the necessary assistance to restore the infrastructure.
