Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) agency held a video conference meeting on Thursday with representatives of the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation to develop a mutually beneficial partnership in the economic sphere.
The meeting participants noted the presence of potential for bilateral cooperation in electricity sector, the transport and communications sector, the IT and agriculture sectors.
Sumitomo Corporation expressed interest in expanding its presence in the promising Turkmen market, where necessary conditions are present for the effective work of foreign businesses.
The sides also discussed cooperation in logistics sphere in the context of a development of transport-transit center of continental significance in Turkmenistan along the North-South and West-East directions
During the working visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in October last year, a General Agreement was signed with Itochu Corporation for the supply of high-performance earthmoving equipment.
