Turkmenistan, IRU Exchange Views on Joint Transport Projects
The parties exchanged views on the ways to implement joint projects to create new transport corridors in the Central Asia and Caspian regions.

A video conference meeting with representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

The parties discussed issues related to the platform of preliminary declaration of international goods, TIR-EPD, and the preliminary introduction of electronic documents for the registration of vehicles, goods imported into and transiting Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, representatives of the International Road Transport Union informed about the best practices of the countries in overcoming transportation difficulties, and about international legal documents regulating such issues.

The parties expressed mutual interest in deepening fruitful cooperation established in recent years and exchanged views on the ways to implement joint projects to create new transport corridors in the Central Asia and Caspian regions.

The online meeting gathered representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Finance and Economy, the State Customs Service, Türkmenawtoulaglary State Transport Agency, and representatives of the Turkmen Association of International Road Carriers (THADA).

Previous such meeting with IRU representatives was held on April 24.
