Meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on International Road Transport via a video link was held at the Türkmenawtoulaglary state transport agency on Tuesday. The sides discussed prospects of intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation in transport sector.
The meeting participants noted with satisfaction the implementation of a number of large-scale transport and transit projects in recent years and emphasized strategic importance of international routes connecting the two states, in particular motor and railway bridges across Amudarya River, which have become an important part of the system of regional communication.
The participants also noted the effective role of Turkmenistan in combating the impact of a pandemic in the region and the world to ensure the smooth flow of international traffic in emergency situations.
The parties exchanged views on further cooperation of the neighboring states in the implementation of large-scale joint infrastructure projects, including in the field of logistics and the creation of new transport and transit corridors.
The meeting was held at the level of deputy heads of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
