EU Discusses Cooperation Prospects With Central Asian States
The meeting participants discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the EU and Central Asia.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev participated in a video conference meeting between the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid and the deputy foreign ministers of Central Asian countries on Thursday.

The meeting participants discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the EU and Central Asia. The sides exchanged views on the implementation of joint program documents and the realization of projects in the fields of economy, energy, transport and ecology

The diplomats also discussed the implementation of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia and the future joint activities.

The participants then exchanged views on the issues of ensuring regional and international stability and security, the need to expand cooperation in combating the global coronavirus pandemic and mitigating its impact on social and economic life in the region.

In this regard, the Turkmen side familiarized the participants with the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to ensure sustainable and reliable international transportation in emergency situations and emphasized the countries will for further development of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the EU.
