Foreign vehicles drive 26 meters through disinfection tunnels, built at the customs checkpoints of Turkmenistan upon entering the country.

“The tunnel with a depth of 70 centimeters is filled with a disinfectant solution. Then, the driver’s cabin is also treated with a special disinfectant, and the entire machine is completely washed. After such sanitization, the car should wait an hour before the customs inspection begins,” Customs checkpoint officer Orazgeldiyev said in an interview with the Neytralnyi Turkmenistan newspaper.

According to Orazgeldiyev, documents are also subject to disinfection. To this end, they are placed under a special device for 25-30 minutes. The driver also undergoes medical testing.

A similar disinfection procedure is carried out at automobile and railway customs checkpoints, and at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, where all containers that are loaded from the ship onto vehicles are decontaminated.

Turkmenistan’s actions in the current situation fully comply with the WHO recommendations on combatting the global COVID-19 pandemic.
