United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held a high-level regional meeting titled “Road to Recovery” via a video link on Monday.
The meeting was held in order to discuss best possible ways to combat the coronavirus and to establish joint work in order to resume tourism activities.
This high-level event was held in two panel discussions. During the first session, the participants discussed measures to support travel and tourism sector and mitigate the socio-economic impact of COVID-19.
The second session focused on best practices and effective strategies for recovery. The parties exchanged views on possible measures to overcome the crisis associated with the pandemic.
The meeting participants got acquainted with the recommendations developed by UNWTO and with the best practices of the countries.
The event gathered UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and heads of national tourism institutions of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Turkmen side was represented by Minister of Culture.
