The opening ceremony of the new automobile bridge through the Tejen River at the Sarahs-Sarahs checkpoint near the Turkmen-Iranian border was held on Monday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced in its press release.
On the occasion of the event, high-ranking officials of Turkmenistan and Iran held a video conference meeting in the second half of the day. The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Minister of Construction and Architecture and the Hyakim (Governor) of Ahal velayat, while the delegation of Iran was led by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Governor of Khorasan-e Razavi Province.
The meeting participants noted the significance of the opening of the new automobile bridge in the context of further development of Turkmen-Iranian relations and underlined the importance of intensification of cooperation in trade-economic, transport and other major spheres.
The parties particularly emphasized the importance of the improvement of transport networks in the current period, adding that such developments are the result of coordinated activities of relevant structures of both countries.
The bridge is 96 meters long and 15.1 meters wide.
