Turkmenistan, UNDP Consider Future Areas of Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Thursday held a video conference meeting with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, Assistant Administrator of UNDP and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its statement.

The sides highly appreciated the long-term and efficient cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UN and its specialized agencies. The parties noted the successful functioning of the UNDP Country Office in Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants thoroughly discussed the global and regional consequences of the pandemic and joint measures aimed at their elimination.

The sides noted Turkmenistan adopted its Country Preparedness and Response Plan to the pandemic, which was developed in cooperation with the UN. The participants also underlined the importance of preparation of the relevant Plan in cooperation with the UNDP and collaboration with the aim of minimizing the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic.

The parties discussed further cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UNDP, especially emphasizing the effectiveness of collaboration in the fields of healthcare and environment protection. The officials also exchanged views on the preparation of the UNDP Country Programme for Turkmenistan for 2021-2025.
