Turkmen Officials, French Businesses Discuss Possibilities of Expanding Business Ties
French-Turkmen Chamber of Commerce was established in 2012.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the French-Turkmen Chamber of Commerce held a video conference meeting on Tuesday on the possibilities of expanding trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and France.

The meeting participants discussed the level of trade and economic relations between the two countries. The sides emphasized the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in priority areas, including trade and investments, oil and gas sector.

According to Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s statement, the parties also examined ways of expanding cooperation between the business circles of the countries.

The participants then exchanged views on the impact of the global pandemic on trade and economic ties between countries of the world and the region. In this regard, the parties noted a number of measures taken by the Government of Turkmenistan and the possibility of implementing new measures to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on production sectors of the national economy and to preserve jobs.

As the meeting came to an end, the parties expressed their readiness to consider different ways of cooperation, such as direct investment, creation of joint ventures, project and structural financing, creation of a joint investment fund.

Established in 2012, the French-Turkmen Chamber of Commerce brings together major French companies operating in Turkmenistan.
