Ashgabat, Tashkent Discuss Improvement of Import, Export Procedures
Turkmen and Uzbek officials underlined the adherence of the countries to maintaining peace, stability and security in the region and in the world.

Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan political and economic consultations were held in a videoconference format on Tuesday. The delegations were headed by the deputy foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Vepa Hajiyev and Ilhomjon Nematov, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reports.

The meeting participants voiced the mutual readiness of the parties to continue cooperation in the framework of international and regional structures. The sides underlined the adherence of the countries to maintaining peace, stability and security in the region and in the world.

The parties particularly focused on the trade-economic cooperation, including the further improvement of import and export procedures between the two states. The officials thoroughly considered the implementation of the agreements attained during the last session of the joint Intergovernmental Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Kerimberdi Kurbanov and the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov expressed their viewpoint on bilateral trade issues.

The parties also discussed the current state of affairs and the future prospects of cooperation in the fields of energy and hydro economics. Taking into account the pandemic situation in the region, the officials noted the high level of cross-border collaboration, including in the transport and communication sphere and improvement of conditions for the transport and transit flow.

The participants agreed to develop further cooperation in the area of education, science and culture. The sides also considered the issues of restoring the Days of Culture on mutual basis.
