Over 3.3 million tonnes of cargo crossed the border via the Horgos station, located in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region bordering Kazakhstan.

During the first seven months this year, 2,240 China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains passed through Horgos port, a major land pass in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region bordering Kazakhstan, China’s Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.

Over 3.3 million tonnes of cargo crossed the border via the Horgos station, with the transport volume up 55.37% year on year, according to the Horgos railway port data.

In the first seven months, 1,974 cargo trains left China via Horgos. The goods transported include garments, electronic products, mechanical and electrical commodities, as well as chemicals.

Meanwhile, a total of 266 inbound trains, mainly from Europe and Central Asia, entered China via the port, carrying goods including cotton yarn, building materials, automobiles and auto parts.

The port dealt with 495 China-Europe freight trains with 45,600 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of cargos in July.
