Turkmenistan to Boost Its Cybersecurity System
The main goal of the Department will be to establish certification of imported and locally produced hardware and software products.

During the meeting of Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Gadyrgeldi Mushshikov voiced a proposal on creating Cybersecurity Certification Department within the central office of the Türkmenstandartlary (Turkmen Standards) Main State Service, TDH reports.

According to the report, the main goal of the Department will be to establish certification of imported and locally produced hardware and software products.

The development of national standards and methodologies in the field of information security, including their harmonization with international standards and technical regulations, is one of the priority areas for the development of Turkmenistan, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during the meeting.

In accordance with the State Cybersecurity Program of Turkmenistan and the Plan for the Implementation of the Program for 2017-2021, the Türkmenstandartlary Service is entrusted with the function of verifying and certifying hardware and software in this field.

Automated Electronic Database System

During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan also signed a Resolution on the creation of an automated electronic database system.

According to the document, ministries, sectoral departments, hyakimliks (administrations) of the velayats and Ashgabat city are instructed to create an automated electronic database system and ensure its functioning in accordance with unified technical requirements and launch it by December 2022.

Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency was instructed to develop and approve uniform technical requirements in the prescribed manner.
