Presidents of Turkmenistan, South Korea Agree to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Friday held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.

Reaffirming the affinity of positions of the two countries on key issues of the global agenda, the parties agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership in the global arena.

The Heads of State emphasized the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and highly appreciated the fruitful character of the Central Asia - Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.

The Presidents noted the importance of the Intergovernmental Commissions and Business Councils in building up mutually beneficial trade and economic relations, and expressed confidence that the regular meeting of the Turkmen-Korean Business Council held the day before would further expand and deepen interstate trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The parties also exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of medicine and healthcare. Given the global spread of the COVID-19 infectious disease, the sides noted the importance of close cooperation between the relevant departments of the two countries.

President Moon Jae-In congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming public holidays, adding that a high-ranking representative of South Korea would participate in the festivities on occasion of these celebrations.
