Turkmen Delegation Participates in CIFTIS-2020 in Beijing
Ashgabat became a member of the World Tourism Cities Federation in May this year.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China Parahat Durdiyev and Turkmen Trade Representative Shohrat Batyrov took part in the World Conference on Cooperation and Tourism Development, held on the sidelines of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS-2020), the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reported on Saturday.

Within the framework of CIFTIS-2020, the first major fair of the current year that runs on September 4-9 in regular and online formats, various events are organized with the participation of 18,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises and institutions and more than 100,000 people. The exposition, consisting of eight thematic sectors, is deployed on a ​​200,000-square meter area.

Within the framework of the Forum, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Chen Dong. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation and the possibility of other cities of Turkmenistan joining the organization.

A number of meetings were organized within the framework of the conference to discuss trends in the development of trade in services, aspects of the digital economy, investment policy and cooperation in the field of tourism. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference participants exchanged views on facilitating the transition of trade to online platforms.

The World Conference on Cooperation and Tourism Development gathered representatives of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), SCO and WTCF, the mayor and vice-mayor of Beijing, diplomats of Turkmenistan, Colombia, Georgia and CEOs of various companies.

Ashgabat became a member of the WTCF in May this year.
