President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday.

According to the TDH news agency, the Presidents expressed satisfaction with the dynamic and progressive character of the fraternal, friendly and good-neighborly dialogue between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which is distinguished by deep sincerity and openness.

The interlocutors emphasized that in recent years Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level and is successfully developing in a wide range of areas, both in bilateral format and through international structures, as evidenced by the mutual support of international initiatives and proposals put forward within the framework of authoritative organizations.

During the exchange of views on a number of important regional and global issues, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the spread of coronavirus infection, which has now become a serious challenge for the entire world community.

The leaders of the two states also focused on the topic of holding the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asia States. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold it in Ashgabat in 2021.

On Wednesday, Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Business Council held its first meeting to discuss the strategy of building up multifaceted interstate cooperation.
