CAREC Member States Mull Further Development of Multilateral Cooperation

Representatives of a number of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan took part in the online meeting of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Regional Economic Cooperation in Central Asia (CAREC) program on Tuesday.

According to the TDH news agency, the meeting participants discussed the progress in the implementation of the Program, and further building up multilateral cooperation.

One of the main topics of the meeting was a pre-project study on the health sector and tourism development until 2030. A draft Gender Strategy until 2030 was submitted for consideration by the participants.

The officials noted that the implementation of strategies in priority areas within the CAREC Program is designed to help build productive interaction, attract large investments for the implementation of significant projects, and promote regional ties to reach a qualitatively new level of innovative growth in Asian countries.

Using CAREC as a platform, ADB, whose activities are aimed at stimulating economic growth in Asia, is actively involved in financing investment projects in Turkmenistan and other countries in the region.

Turkmenistan has been a member of ADB since 2000. The country for the first time the took over the chairmanship of the CAREC Program in 2018.
