Turkmenistan to Increase Export of Electricity to Afghanistan
Activities to increase the volume of electricity supplies to the Afghan side via the Serhetabat-Herat-Turgundi and Rabatkashan-Kalainau lines are currently underway.

During the Thursday meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister Shamuhammet Durdyliyev reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on measures to increase the volume of electricity supplies to Afghanistan.

According to the TDH news agency’s report, activities to increase the volume of electricity supplies to the Afghan side via the Serhetabat-Herat-Turgundi and Rabatkashan-Kalainau lines are currently underway.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the increase of electricity supplies and the commissioning of new power transmission lines will provide favorable conditions for improving the lives of the Afghan people, development of new industries in the country and, as a result, creation of new employment oppurtunities.

The agreements on the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan were concluded in accordance with the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dated November 2017.

Presently, hundreds of young Afghans are studying energy specialty at Turkmen universities.
