Turkmen delegation led by the Minister of Healthcare and Medical Industry Nurmuhammet Amannepesov held online talks on Tuesday with the head of the Institute for Virology at the Essen University Hospital (Germany) Professor Dr. Adalbert Krawczyk.
According to Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s press release, heads and specialists of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Turkmendermansenagat Association and the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after M. Garriyev also attended the meeting.
During the constructive talks, the parties exchanged views on the medicinal features of licorice root and the active substance in its composition called glycyrrhizic acid.
The effectiveness of this drug has been confirmed by recent studies conducted by Turkmen and foreign scientists.
Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, scientific and research work aimed at identifying and developing special antiviral drugs has intensified around the world.
In this regard, the relevant scientific studies of scientists have confirmed the therapeutic and prophylactic effect of drugs from licorice, as well as glycyrrhizic acid, which is contained in its composition, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s statement.
Since ancient times, licorice root has been used for the treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, and due to its positive effect, scientists of Turkmenistan continue to study the properties of this plant in accordance with the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, who noted the uniqueness of licorice root in the treatment of infectious diseases.
