Gazprom expected to increase gas supplies from Turkmenistan to 5.5 billion cubic meters in 2020-2035, TASS news agency reported on Wednesday with reference to the draft general scheme for the development of the gas industry in Russia until 2035.

Russia plans to increase the import of Central Asian gas to 26.6 billion cubic meters in 2021, according to the report. Last year, Russia’ gas imports from Central Asia, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 26 billion cubic meters.

Turkmenistan exported 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Russia in 2019. During the same period, Russia imported 7.7 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan and 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas from Kazakhstan.

At the same time, the price of Russian gas supplied for export in 2025 will range from $146 to $211 per 1,000 cubic meters.

In 2020, Gazprom exported 179.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas to non-CIS countries. Due to the pandemic, the figure dropped by 10% compared to 2019, according to the report.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after the Russia, Iran and Qatar. Turkmenistan’s proven natural gas resources are currently estimated 50 trillion cubic meters.
