Turkmen President, New Pakistani Envoy Discuss Progress of Regional Projects
Newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan Irfan Ahmed

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan Irfan Ahmed. The diplomat presented his credentials to the Head of State.

The diplomat conveyed warm greetings from President of Pakistan Arif Alvi to the Turkmen Leader, TDH news agency reports.

Emphasizing the importance attached to cooperation with the Central Asian countries, in particular with Turkmenistan, the Ambassador expressed his country's deep interest in the further progressive development of interstate dialogue that meets common goals and interests.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the Government of Pakistan with gratitude for the active support of Turkmenistan's initiatives on the world stage.

During the constructive meeting, the Head of State and the diplomat exchanged views on a wide range of matters of long-term productive cooperation in many sectors of the economy, primarily in the fuel and energy sector, transport and communications, according to the report.

Confirming Pakistan's interest in speeding up the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, as well as the laying of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission lines, fiber-optic communication lines, the Ambassador expressed confidence that the implementation of this ambitious project will contribute to the development of economic cooperation in regional and international dimensions.

The new Ambassador assured the Turkmen Leader that, for his part, he will do everything possible to contribute to the further development of traditional Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation and to the strengthening of interstate relations that meet common interests.
