Preparations Underway For World Track Cycling Championship in Turkmenistan
The World Track Cycling Championship will be held on October 13-17, 2021 in Ashgabat.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday received Igor Makarov, the Head of the ARETI International Group of Companies, a member of the Steering Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI). During the meeting, the parties discussed preparations for the upcoming World Track Cycling Championship.

The Member of the UCI Steering Committee reported on the accelerated work and the fulfillment of the instructions given earlier by the Head of State to organize this important sporting event, Turkmenistan’s official media reports.

The World Track Cycling Championship will be held on October 13-17, 2021 in Ashgabat. Representatives of 186 countries of the world will take part in it. The Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, the Cycling Federation and the UCI will jointly organize the event.

During the meeting, the Turkmen President said that the holding of the World Track Cycling Championship is a worthy contribution of the country, which is a member of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia, to the development of the world Olympic movement and the popularization of sports. The Head of State also emphasized the symbolism of organization of the major world competition in the year of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence and the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat.

Makarov assured that the UCI will do a great job of organizing and holding the event at the highest level. He also noted that due to the global coronavirus pandemic, all athletes arriving in Turkmenistan will be vaccinated.

Having assured that all instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will be fulfilled as soon as possible, Igor Makarov wished the Head of State health, prosperity and success in his large-scale activities.
