Turkmenistan this year plans to produce 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons, including 155 tons in Ahal velayat, 25 tons in Balkan velayat, 500 tons in Dashoguz velayat, 1,010 tons in Lebap velayat, and 410 tons in Mary velayat.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a relevant Resolution at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, the country’s official media reports.
According to the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection is instructed to conclude agreements with the hyakimliks (administrations) of the velayats on the production of silkworm cocoons, and to provide farmers' associations and other enterprises with the necessary volume of high-quality silkworm grains.
During the meeting, the Vice-Premier Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev reported on the ongoing seasonal agricultural works and measures to further strengthen food abundance in the country.
Following the report, the Head of State stressed the importance of ensuring food abundance in the country, providing the population with fresh vegetables, melons and other agricultural products. Along with this, the Turkmen President noted the importance of quality care for winter cereals and organized, comprehensive preparation for sowing cotton.
