Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday in Moscow. The ministers discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international structures, mainly within the scope of the UN, OSCE, CIS, and CA5 + Russia dialogue mechanism at the level of foreign ministers.
The officials exchanged views on the Caspian issues, including preparations for the Sixth Caspian Summit, scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan. They also discussed security matters, including environmental security, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
During the talks, the sides also discussed the possibilities of expanding bilateral relations in the fields of education and medicine, exchanged views on the cooperation in political-diplomatic field, and in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Following the talks, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Russian Federation on biological safety issues.
The Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov also met with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at the House of the Government of the Russian Federation
