Turkmenistan, OSCE Mull Promising Areas of Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Wednesday in Ashgabat met with the newly appointed Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat Ambassador John McGregor. During the talks, the sides reviewed the implementation of current projects and discussed promising areas of cooperation.

The parties also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of energy security, including the development of initiatives on sustainable energy within the framework of OSCE, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its press release.

The topic of sustainable transport was also discussed during the meeting. An exchange of views took place on potential joint projects to optimize the operation of the East-West corridor.

The diplomats highly appreciated the level of humanitarian cooperation and noted the intensification of relations of Turkmenistan with such OSCE institutions as the Office of the High Commissioner on National Minorities, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and the Representative on Freedom of the Media.

Minister Rashid Meredov and Ambassador John McGregor agreed to maintain an active dialogue in order to achieve common goals.
