Turkmenistan’s GDP Grows 6.1% in First Five Months of 2021
In January-May period, manufacturing in Turkmenistan increased by 5.3% compared to the same period in 2020.

The GDP of Turkmenistan increased by 6.1% in January-May of this year, the Vice-Premier Gadyrgeldi Mushshikov noted in his report to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during an online Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday.

The meeting summed up the results of the activities of the branches of the national economic complex for January-May of this year, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

During the period, manufacturing in Turkmenistan increased by 5.3% compared to the same period in 2020. In comparison with the same period last year, the retail trade turnover increased by 17.5%.

In January-May period, the revenue side of the state budget of the country was executed at the level of 120.4%, and the expenditure side – 92.2%.

Reporting on the measures to denationalize state property, the Vice-Premier Mushshikov informed that 52 objects were privatized during the period.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on a number of priority tasks facing the economic bloc, outlining preparation of the draft State budget for the coming year among the priority tasks. At the same time, the head of state instructed, together with other deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, to start developing a program for 2022, the main goals of which should be to accelerate out of the global economic crisis and to achieve pre-crisis indicators.

The Head of State also noted the importance of ensuring the implementation of the previously adopted state programs for the development of the country, based on the available resources.

The Cabinet of Ministers meeting also considered and made decisions on other important issues of state life.
