The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Wednesday hosted a round table with the participation of the heads of the ministries of Turkmenistan and a delegation of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) led by Secretary General Hadi Soleimanpour. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the progress of preparations for the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat.
The round table participants discussed priority issues of interaction between Turkmenistan and the ECO, in which the country presides this year, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of priority ECO events in order to fully implement the Concept of Turkmenistan's ECO chairmanship in 2021.
The sides particularly exchanged views on the progress of preparations for the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat on November 28 of this year, discussed organizational and protocol issues, including the progress in preparing the draft Agenda, Program and Final Document of the meeting.
The parties also discussed issues of holding the next meeting of the Regional Planning Council chaired by Turkmenistan in July this year.
ECO Secretary General Hadi Soleimanpur’s official visit to Ashgabat lasted from June 28 to June 30. During his visit, Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour was received by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
ECO Secretary General also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. Their meeting was marked by the accession of Turkmenistan to the Framework Agreement on ECO Trade Cooperation. The document was signed by the Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov.
