Turkmen grain farmers harvested more than 1.4 million tons of wheat, fully fulfilling the state wheat harvest plan, the country’s official media reports.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday received a report from the hyakims (governors) of Ahal, Balkan, Lebap, Mary and Dashoguz velayats on the fulfillment of state wheat harvest plan by the farmers of Turkmenistan.
According to the reports, the farmers harvested over 400 thousand tons of wheat in Ahal velayat, 80 thousand tons in Balkan velayat, 265 thousand tons in Dashoguz velayat, 310 thousand tons in Lebap velayat and 345 thousand tons in Mary velayat.
Farmers in Turkmenistan’s Ahal, Lebap and Mary velayats started harvesting wheat on June 4 and wheat growers of Balkan and Dashoguz velayats joined them on June 11. The total area of wheat fields was 690 thousand hectares. The harvest season involved operation of 2,111 wheat harvesters.
