Turkmen President to Lay Foundation of New International Airport
The Head of State said the new airport in Jebel will help strengthen the role of Balkan velayat as an international transport and transit hub.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during his upcoming visit to the country’s western velayat of Balkan will lay the foundation of a new international airport in the town of Jebel, government officials reported to Turkmen President on the preparations for this event during an online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday.

Within the framework of his visit, the Head of State will also take part in the opening ceremony of Türkmeniň Ak Öýi (Turkmen white yurt) building in Balkanabat city, and a nearby sadaqah premise with 3,000 seats, the country’s official media reports.

During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of an integrated approach to ensuring a high organizational level of events planned during the working trip, and creating appropriate conditions for their participants.

The Head of State said the laying of the foundation of a new airport in Jebel will help strengthen the role of Balkan velayat, and the entire country, as an international transport and transit hub, adding that, this, in turn, will contribute to the expansion of cooperation of Turkmenistan with interested foreign partners.

During the government meeting, Turkmen President also instructed to keep under constant control the issues related to the organization of favorable conditions for recreation on the Caspian coast.
