Over 170,000 tons of cargo from Turkmenistan were transshipped via Turkish ports in the first half of this year, the Baku-based Trend news agency reported on Wednesday with reference to Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
According to the ministry, the cargo was mainly transported by ships bearing the flags of countries other than Turkey.
Over 188.2 million tons of goods have been transshipped through Turkish ports in January-June 2021. 15.3 million tons of these cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 172.8 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.
Nearly 31.6 million tons of cargo were transported through global ports in June 2021 alone.
Around 6.2 million tons of these shipments transited through Turkish ports in June 2021.
