Due to the fulfillment of all the cultivation requirements and the efforts of the farmers, cotton bolls began to ripen early on the fields in Ak Bugday etrap of Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat. The Yoloten-7 medium staple cotton variety is growing in most of the plantations in the etrap, the country’s official media reported on Wednesday.
The early ripening is also facilitated by favorable weather conditions, provision of farmers with modern technology, high-quality seed materials, as well as fertilizers.
The new crop will be harvested not only by hand, but also with modern cotton harvesters. With 43 cotton harvesters on standby, the areas allotted for machine harvesting have already been determined in the etrap.
Last year, Turkmen cotton farmers fulfilled the state order, harvesting 1.25 million tons of raw cotton. This indicator was reached for the first time in cotton production as decision was made in 2020 to reduce the land for wheat cultivation and increase the cotton plantations.
