Top Turkmen Diplomat Attends Ministerial Meeting on Afghanistan
Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev represented the Turkmen side at the meeting.

A multilateral ministerial meeting focusing on current situation in Afghanistan was held online on Wednesday.

Foreign ministers of more than 20 countries and high-ranking representatives of the UN, EU and NATO attended the online meeting, initiated by the foreign ministries of the United States and Germany, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its press release. Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev represented the Turkmen side at the meeting.

The diplomats exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the efforts of the international community to expand cooperation in the Afghan direction.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side noted that, as a neighboring country, the issue of stability and security in Afghanistan has direct influence and significance for Turkmenistan from a political, economic and humanitarian standpoint.

Focusing on the importance of creating new formats of partnership in Afghanistan, the Turkmen side stressed the need to establish effective mechanisms of multilateral interaction aimed at achieving peace and civil accord in the country, ensuring security and social stability, as well as the well-being of the Afghan people.

By order of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan last Wednesday sent a humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, which became the first humanitarian delivery of the Turkmen side to Afghanistan after the recent developments on its territory.
