Germany Thanks Turkmenistan For Assistance in Its Afghan Evacuation Flights

Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas in a phone talk with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov on Tuesday, on behalf of the German government, expressed gratitude for cooperation of Turkmenistan in ensuring aircraft flights with the aim of evacuating its citizens from Afghanistan.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that the prompt granting of permission by Turkmenistan to use its airspace was a decisive factor in the effective evacuation of people, according to press release issued by the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The diplomats particularly noted the close interaction of Turkmenistan and Germany in the Green Central Asia initiative, as well as cooperation in education sphere.

The sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues, expressing their desire to continue an active dialogue on Afghan issues.

The ministers agreed to hold regular consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Germany with the participation of diplomatic missions.
