Turkmen Trading House Expected to Open in St. Petersburg

Turkmenistan and Russia’s St. Petersburg intend to open trading houses in each other’s territories. Joint cooperation areas were discussed on Sunday in Ashgabat during the meeting of vice-premiers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rashid Meredov with a delegation of the St. Petersburg Administration led by Governor Alexander Beglov. The delegation arrived in the capital on an official visit to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

The officials mainly focused on issues of economic and humanitarian cooperation, the press service of the administration of the northern capital of Russia reports.

In 2021, the trade turnover of St. Petersburg with Turkmenistan increased by almost 30%. Alexander Beglov said the opening of trading houses of St. Petersburg in Turkmenistan and of Turkmenistan in St. Petersburg will contribute to its further increase.

The trading house of St. Petersburg is expected to be built in the projected complex – Ashgabat City. It will be created according to the principles of a “smart city”. St. Petersburg-based companies are planning to take part in its construction, according to the press service.

The Governor also invited the delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan to the St. Petersburg Innovation Forum on November 10-12, 2021.

In order to increase the export of Turkmen products, trading houses of the nion of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan were opened in dozens of countries, including Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Turkey, China.
