Iran Triples Its Exports by Rail Through Sarakhs Border Crossing
Around 600,000 tons of Iranian goods were exported through Iran’s Sarakhs land border with Turkmenistan during the spring and summer seasons of this year.

Iran’s exports by rail through its Sarahks border crossing to Central Asia during the spring and summer seasons of this year tripled compared to the same period last year, IRNA news agency reported on Monday, with reference to the Director-General of the Railways of Khorasan Razavi province Mustafa Nasiri.

Mustafa Nasiri told IRNA that around 600,000 tons of Iranian goods were exported in over 9,500 freight wagons through Iran’s Sarakhs land border with Turkmenistan during the period.

He said 550 thousand tons of export goods, or 92% of the total exports, were loaded in Khorasan Razavi province.

Cement was the most exported product with 36% share of the total exports to Central Asian countries through Sarakhs border, Mustafa Nasiri added.
 
The Director-General of the Railways of Khorasan Razavi said Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, respectively with 45 and 41% share were the main destinations for the Iranian goods exported by rail to Central Asia.

Sarakhs border city is located 202 kilometers to the northeast of the Khorasan Razavi province’s capital Mashad.
