Transmashholding Sends Passenger, Freight Locomotives to Turkmenistan

Demirýollary Open Joint-Stock Company, the operator of the railway transport service in Turkmenistan, purchased from the Russian Transmashholding (TMH) a passenger diesel locomotive TEP70BS and a mainline freight diesel locomotive 2TE25KM.

The diesel locomotives were sent to the locomotive depot in Ashgabat. The delivery was carried out in accordance with contracts concluded in October and November 2020, the TMH said in its Wednesday press release.

Diesel locomotives TEP70BS are intended for driving passenger trains on main-line railways of 1,520 mm gauge. The power of the locomotives is 2942 kW (4,000 hp) per section. These locomotives are used for passenger transportation on the main railways of Russia, Lithuania, Belarus, Uzbekistan.

The 2TE25KM is a mainline freight two-section diesel locomotive with AC-DC electric transmission. The locomotive is capable of driving trains weighing up to 6,400 tons. These diesel locomotives are widely used on the railways of Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Transmashholding is the largest Russian company specializing in the design and manufacture of rolling stock for railways and urban transport systems. The enterprises of the TMH group produce electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, freight and passenger cars, as well as electric train and metro cars.
