Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will develop an international tourism project called the "Precious Necklace of the Commonwealth". The CIS Tourism Council supported the initiative to implement the project at its meeting held on Friday in Armenia’s capital Yerevan.
The meeting gathered representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States and the CIS Executive Committee led by Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee Beketzhan Zhumakhanov, the CIS Executive Committee said in its press release.
The project aims to identify and promote complex tourism routes that combine iconic tourism sites of the CIS countries with unique historical and cultural monuments, centers of folk crafts.
The initiative to study the implementation of the project "Precious Necklace of the Commonwealth" was also supported by the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS member states.
At the meeting in Yerevan, representatives of tourism departments got acquainted with the state policy of Armenia in the field of tourism, discussed the activities of the Working Group on responding to challenges in the tourism sector under the Tourism Council, reviewed the implementation of the Action Plan for 2021-2023 on the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Tourism Cooperation.
The meeting participants also discussed the preparation for consideration at the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers of the draft Regulation on the basic organization in the field of tourism, considered the experience of Belarus in the development of agro-ecotourism, and also discussed the use of the model law on Ecological Tourism in the national legislation of the CIS member states.
The next meeting of the CIS Tourism Council will take place in Belarus in 2022.
